Job Description

Title: Engineering Technician I
Duration: 11+ Months 
Location: Onsite - 5 days a week - Mississauga, Canada
Hours: First Shift: 8:30am-4:30pm

Summary:
  • Perform environmental, dynamic, reliability, and functional, testing on mobile computing product and systems, both the entire product level and at specific hardware component levels
  • Follow pre-defined test plans, work instructions, test standards, and verbal descriptions/defined test plans. Document results for test reports and issue non-compliance reports.
  • Interface with internal customers and provide project status updates.
  • Assists product development engineers in the diagnosis and replication of product failures. Analyzes test results and makes recommendations
  • Ensures testing is completed for each design revision in timely fashion.
  • Sets-up, adjusts and develop various types of standard or customer mechanical equipment/fixture to meet test criteria
Responsibilities
  • Perform environmental, mechanical, electronics, dynamic, reliability, and functional, testing on mobile computing product and systems, both the entire product level and at specific hardware component levels
  • Follow pre-defined test plans, work instructions, test standards, and verbal descriptions/defined test plans. Document results for test reports and issue non-compliance reports.
  • Interface with internal customers and provide project status updates.
  • Assists product development engineers in the diagnosis and replication of product failures. Analyzes test results and makes recommendations
  • Ensures testing is completed for each design revision in timely fashion.
  • Sets-up, adjusts and develop various types of standard or customer mechanical equipment/fixture to meet test criteria
  • Troubleshoot and setup lab equipment/machine for internal testing, and maintain machinery efficiently and safely
  • Ensures that all projects are accurately documented
Qualifications:
  • Ability to handle multiple work requests and projects simultaneously, and work in fast-paced environment.
  • Self-directed with ability to be efficient with minimal supervision
  • Solid professional work behaviors (attendance, teamwork, time management), must be a team player and have ability to work independently
  • Self-Starter with good problem-solving skills
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new technology
  • Skill in understanding mechanical engineering technical drawings, and basic proficiency in using AutoCAD or 3D design software for mechanical engineering detail drawing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience in using a wide range of tools, including common hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, calibration and measurement methodology
  • Basic computer skills for Android system, understanding of how to use benchmarking tools or diagnostic apps to assess device performance
  • Good communication skills (listening, providing clear and concise information, using proper language)
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft business applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Basic understanding of programming control, pneumatic, hydraulic system.
  • Additional knowledge of electrical equipment such as Multimeters, Data loggers, oscilloscopes, and power supplies, is a plus
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Post-secondary education in Mechatronics, or a related field.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree
