Position Title: Atlassian Specialist (Jira and Confluence)
Work Location: Remote
Assignment Duration: 12 Months
Position Summary:
The Atlassian Specialist is responsible for the administration, configuration, and optimization of Atlassian tools—primarily Jira and Confluence—to enhance collaboration, productivity, and process efficiency across teams. This role partners with engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to design scalable workflows, ensure system reliability, and promote best practices in Agile project management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer, maintain, and optimize Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence environments.
• Design and implement custom workflows, fields, permission schemes, screens, dashboards, and reports.
• Integrate Atlassian products with other systems (e.g., Slack, GitHub, Bitbucket, or ServiceNow) and manage API/webhook connections.
• Develop and enforce usage standards, templates, and governance frameworks.
• Provide end user training and technical documentation for internal teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to performance, access, and configuration.
• Research, install, and evaluate marketplace add ons/plugins to extend platform functionality.
• Perform system upgrades, patch management, and license administration.
• Collaborate with Agile teams to ensure Jira aligns with Scrum, Kanban, and hybrid methodologies.
• Maintain Confluence spaces, macros, and permissions to ensure content accessibility and governance.
Required Skills and Experience:
• 3+ years of experience administering Atlassian Jira and Confluence (Cloud or Data Center).
• Strong understanding of Jira workflows, schemes, and automation.
• Experience designing and managing Confluence spaces, templates, and access controls.
• Proficiency in Jira REST APIs, webhooks, and integration design.
• Knowledge of Agile and ITIL principles.
• Hands on experience with Bitbucket, Bamboo, or other Atlassian suite tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with SQL, JavaScript, or Python for automation and data extraction preferred.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to translate business needs into effective technical configurations.
Education and Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP)—Jira Administration or Confluence Administration certification preferred.
• ITIL certification is a plus.
