Position Summary
The Environmental Engineer is responsible for ensuring environmental compliance at the facility. The ideal candidate will have broad environmental knowledge and the ability to work in a fast-paced research and development environment. This role will lead and execute tasks across multiple environmental programs including air, waste, wastewater, and hazardous materials management to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Key areas of responsibility include chemical management, hazardous waste, stormwater, air compliance, wastewater management, and emergency response.
Core Responsibilities

Prepare content for environmental training programs and compliance requirements.

Provide support during incidents and emergency response situations.

Conduct routine waste disposal inspections and manage waste removal activities, including RCRA waste manifests.

Assess facilities for potential regulatory obligations, including SPCC and air permit requirements.

Maintain inventories for HMBP and EPCRA reporting.

Prepare wastewater discharge monitoring reports.

Develop and submit routine monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental reports.

Partner with health and safety teams, laboratory personnel, facilities, and cross-functional teams to understand new tools, processes, and equipment that may impact environmental permit obligations.
Minimum Requirements

5+ years of experience in environmental compliance assurance.

Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related field.

Ability to manage multiple tasks while supporting environmental programs and site hazardous waste services.

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations including hazardous materials management, air permitting, industrial wastewater permitting, stormwater, hazardous waste, and universal waste.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
