Title: QA Automation Engineer III
Location: Cupertino, CA (Hybrid, 3 days a week - TWT)
Duration: 7 + Months
 
Be part of the engineering team creating health features on Watch. The Health Sensing team has a catalogue of health features we ship to customers every year.
 
We’re looking for a Quality Engineer who has strong experience developing and executing automated tests, building up and maintaining the testing infrastructure to make sure all of our shipping features continue to work as expected.
 
In this role, you’ll work with development and quality engineers to test number of complex health features on next
version of Watch hardware and watchOS. You will execute tests in the timely manner to provide fast and actionable
feedback to the development teams. You will also help strategize how to develop robust, scalable, and reliable
infrastructure to support this testing.
 
Description:
This position requires someone with a passion for Quality Engineering in support of delivering high quality products to
Our customers, as well as being phenomenal partners with the Health Sensing Engineering teams. The
candidate should:
  • Have strong experience in developing and executing manual and automated tests on hardware device to validate system functionality and performance
  • Have experience reporting and filing issues in the issue tracking system with the relevant urgency and all the necessary information
  • Design and recommend logging telemetry to improve failure triaging efficiency and gather quality metrics
  • Participate and/or drive post mortem discussions to think strategically about how to prevent similar issues in the future
 Key Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in consumer hardware and software test engineering, utilizing manual and
  • automated methods
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, prolific and effective problem/defect identification; identifying
  • and driving critical problem resolution
  • Effectiveness in balancing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines, all while keeping to a holistic vision
  • Experience diagnosing and debugging complex systems that involves both hardware and software
  • Practical proficiency in shell/CLI methodology, version control system such as Git and some experience in test automation (Python and XCTest)
  • Exceptional communication and collaborative skills including networking, negotiating, and documentation skills
  • Ability to think creatively and innovate to solve sophisticated problems
  • Self-motivated, proactive, details-oriented, and enthusiastic about user-focused design & high-quality products
Additional Requirements:
  • Experience with managing a device lab that host multiple test devices
  • Experience with testing embedded systems
  • Familiarity with health-regulated device or software testing
  • Familiarity with digital signal processing
  • Hardware and software testing and troubleshooting experience
  • Debugging and triaging system-level or algorithm-level test results and failures
  • Detail-oriented, great tester/debugger, great communicator
  • Good Python programming experience is preferred, but not required
