Job Description

Job Title: Application Release Engineer V 
Location: Toronto, Ontario – Hybrid (2 days in office)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Duration: 6 months (Extension Possible | Conversion Possible)

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Application Release Engineer V to join our dynamic team of 22 professionals. This role is a backfill position that will contribute to critical projects focused on improving the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of our systems. The successful candidate will embrace an automation-first, design-driven approach to software delivery, driving the end-to-end deployment process while collaborating with internal stakeholders across multiple regions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direction and influence the design and operation of systems to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Lead automation initiatives across the application deployment pipeline, including infrastructure as code, source code management, and CI/CD tools.
  • Execute software deployments and releases across all regions and environments, solving technical problems as they arise.
  • Maintain DevOps tooling, processes, and testing ecosystems to support high environment availability for development and testing teams.
  • Communicate best practices for end-to-end software delivery and mentor team members.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders (~75% of the role) to anticipate needs and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Measure performance through deliverables, quality of work, and feedback from peers and partners.

Required Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in highly regulated industries (FI experience an asset).
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and VMware Cloud.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and orchestration tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to anticipate and address needs proactively.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Proficiency with SaltStack.
  • Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes.
