Job Description

Senior QA Engineer (Contract) - Automation Focus
Location: Remote (Preferably East Coast)
Employment Type: 6-month contract with potential for extensions

Client is a leading global provider of legal, regulatory, and business information and analytics. We help professionals make better decisions, improve productivity, and advance outcomes in law, business, and beyond.

Role Overview
We seek a Senior QA Engineer with a strong automation focus to join our Microsoft-centric technology team. This senior-level role emphasizes hands-on automation testing, particularly using Cypress with TypeScript, in a .NET environment. You will drive quality assurance for our applications, focusing on efficiency through automation to support team optimization.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver who takes ownership of their work, requires minimal oversight, and thrives in a collaborative yet independent setting. Experience level is flexible if you demonstrate strong demeanor, initiative, and the ability to deliver results autonomously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts, with a heavy focus on Cypress (TypeScript) automation (approximately 60-70% of the role).
  • Utilize .NET Selenium and other automation tools for functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
  • Perform additional automation and performance testing as needed to enhance efficiency.
  • Debug issues across the stack, including Windows Server and SQL Server environments.
  • Collaborate with development and cross-functional teams to identify quality risks and implement automated solutions that reduce manual effort.
  • Leverage AI tools or other innovative efficiencies to streamline testing processes and contribute to team scalability.
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced Microsoft ecosystem.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in automation testing, with strong expertise in Cypress and TypeScript (this will be a key evaluation point in the interview).
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium in a .NET environment (C# knowledge highly preferred).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft technologies: .NET Framework, SQL Server, Windows Server; prior work in a full Microsoft stack is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to debug and troubleshoot in Windows Server and SQL environments.
  • Experience with performance testing tools and frameworks is a plus.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to F#, AI-driven testing tools, or other automation efficiencies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of owning tasks end-to-end without needing micromanagement.
Interview Process
  • Initial screening.
  • 1-hour technical interview: Live coding exercise (screen share required) in C# or TypeScript, with emphasis on Cypress-related scripting and automation scenarios.
What We're Looking For in a Candidate
  • Self-starters who take full ownership of their work—we value demeanor and accountability over years of experience.
  • Individuals who proactively identify problems, propose solutions, and drive efficiencies (e.g., through advanced automation or AI tools).
