Job Title: US Business Analyst - 5 (Cash Management)
Duration: 9+ Months - Possibility of extension and conversion to FTE
Schedule Hours: 9 am-5 pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week (possible OT)
Location: New York, NY 10281 (Hybrid – 1 day onsite per week)
Business Group: New York Agency - Finance
Project: 2nd phase of the US Cash Management project

- Our products include debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, fixed income products, derivatives, energy, foreign exchange, and metals.
- We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by the Scotiabank Group.
- The Business Solutions & Initiatives team is tasked with the implementation of strategic business initiatives for GTB Finance. Provide inputs on overall cross-business best practices, process improvements, and architecture.
- The selected candidate is responsible for helping manage the Finance change for the Global Transactions Business.
- The role works closely with business stakeholders on change initiatives to manage future state expectations.
- The responsibilities include capturing current and future state processes, writing business requirements, resolving complex accounting issues, and working to develop end-user computing solutions for Finance stakeholders.
- The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a high-growth business with the opportunity to work on a multi-year initiative.
- Work as part of a team to help drive strategic change for GTB
- Contribute to business and strategic planning; resourceful self-starter with flexibility and creative thinking
- Gather and understand business needs and translate them into written requirements
- Work with technology partners through development, testing, and implementation
- Perform forensic accounting and problem analysis
- Maintain effective stakeholder relationships, communication, conflict handling, and issue resolution
- Collaborate with Global Enterprise Technology, Operations, Compliance, Liquidity, Risk, and business functions regionally and globally
- Develop user computing and data analytics solutions
- Maintain a high-performance environment through self-assessment and mentoring
- Contribute to an inclusive work environment
- Test accounting logic for the Oracle ledger system (PeopleSoft, OFSAA, FAH)
- Interact with finance IT to explain requirements and pressure test scalability
- Work with users to define requirements and design accounting flows
- Problem-solve and document new requirements arising from testing
- Work with the BSI team to identify solutions and document requirements, and system flows
- Regular interaction with finance management and the wider project team
- 10+ years of experience as a BA
- The ideal candidate would have powerful business analysis experience with large-scale and small-scale projects within FI, specifically Finance.
- Education: Post-Secondary degree/diploma in accounting/finance or related field.
- 8+ years of current state analysis, system flow/swim lane diagrams, and requirements documentation
- Hands-on experience with Oracle ledger systems: PeopleSoft, OFSAA, FAH
- Well-developed judgment, management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to deal effectively with a rapidly changing, complex business environment.
- Good project/time management skills to manage multi-functional accountabilities through prioritization, delegation, motivation, conflict resolution, and the promotion of ideas.
- Strong analytic and communication skills
- 5+ years of accounting methodology experience within the banking industry
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Alteryx / PowerBI
- MS Visio
