Job Description
Job Title: Technician/ Junior Engineer
Location: Charlton, MA
Duration: 12 Months with high possibility of extension or conversion
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Technician or Junior Engineer to operate and support a cutting-edge robotic prototype. This role is critical to advancing technology that has the potential to greatly impact on clients efficiency in fulfillment centers. The ideal candidate will be independent, motivated, and comfortable working with evolving prototype systems.
Must Haves
- Independent & Self-Motivated - Ability to work with minimal oversight and take initiative in problem-solving
- Technical Versatility - Comfortable working with prototypes requiring command line interfaces and troubleshooting mechanical/electrical hardware
- Detail-Oriented - Meticulous in capturing data and logging information in prescribed systems
Work Environment
- Prototype testing environment with prototype robotic technology
- May involve exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures
- Requires adherence to strict safety protocols
- May require flexible hours to support testing schedules and coordinate with remote teams
A Typical Day
- Touch base with remote technical team to align on priorities
- Load materials and start the robotic machine operation
- Monitor machine operation and performance metrics
- Collect and log data in prescribed systems
- Perform basic maintenance (tightening bolts, checking connections)
- Troubleshoot issues using both mechanical and software diagnostics
- Collaborate with remote technical team to diagnose root causes and implement repairs
- Document all activities, observations, and outcomes
Equipment Operation
- Operate prototype robotic equipment according to established procedures and safety protocols
- Load boxes and start the machine for production runs
- Monitor equipment performance in real-time and make adjustments to optimize operation
- Conduct pre-operation inspections and post-operation shutdown procedures
- Touch base daily with remote technical team to coordinate activities and share updates
Data Collection & Documentation
- Capture detailed operational data with precision and accuracy
- Log all data in prescribed systems according to established protocols
- Document operational parameters, settings, and performance metrics
- Maintain detailed records of equipment performance and any incidents
- Generate reports on equipment performance and testing outcomes
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform basic maintenance tasks including tightening bolts and checking connections
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, anomalies, or performance issues
- Conduct root cause analysis of issues independently and in collaboration with remote technical team
- Work with remote technical team to diagnose problems and implement repairs
- Support equipment modifications and upgrades as directed
Technical Interface
- Comfortable using command line computer interfaces for machine operation
- Troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical hardware issues
- Navigate prototype systems that may have evolving interfaces and requirements
- Adapt to changing technical requirements as the prototype develops
Safety & Compliance
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and procedures
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Participate in safety training and hazard identification activities
- Report safety concerns and near-miss incidents immediately
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and robotic systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments
- Experience with command line interfaces or willingness to learn quickly
- Computer literacy including data entry and basic software applications
