Job Title: Java Developer
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid — Onsite Tue/Wed/Thu)
Duration: 6-Month Contract (Potential to Convert)

Must-Have (Non-Negotiable) Skills

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience (Java 8+).
• Strong proficiency in PL/SQL (Oracle).
• Hands-on experience with shell scripting (Bash, KornShell, or similar).
• Strong understanding of OOP concepts and software design patterns.
• Experience using GitHub or similar version control systems.
• Comfortable working in Linux/Unix environments. 

Role Overview
You will play an important role in building and improving high-quality technology solutions used across client. This team focuses on innovation and productivity enhancements, leveraging modern engineering approaches and emerging technologies such as Generative AI.
The position requires strong technical and analytical skills with hands-on expertise in Java, SQL, and scripting. You will work within a collaborative and fast-paced environment to support and enhance core business applications.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Build and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database schema.
• Create and maintain shell scripts for automation, deployments, and monitoring.
• Work closely with QA, DevOps, Production Support, and Product Management teams.
• Participate in code reviews and shared learning sessions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance or production issues.
• Maintain high standards of code quality, security, and performance. 

Required Skills

• Java (5+ years; Java 8 or newer)
• PL/SQL (Oracle)
• Shell Scripting (Bash, KornShell, etc.)
• OOP and design patterns
• GitHub or similar source control
• Linux/Unix familiarity 

Preferred Skills

• Working knowledge of cloud platforms
• Experience with Spring Framework
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Eclipse, Toad
• Understanding of Maven and CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving ability
• Experience with Agile/Scrum or Kanban methodologies
