Job Description

Job Title: Sr. Data Scientist
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Remote
Hours: 8hrs per day; 8:30AM-5PM EST
Summary:
  • This contractor will be part of a cross-functional IT and Business team responsible for developing strategic, enterprise-aligned solutions for the document processing use case.
Top must-have skills / Candidate Requirements: 
  • Proficiency Streamlit in Python, Vector Database and API development
  • Experience with clustering, natural language processing, large language models, analyzing unstructured text data
  • Knowledge of version control platforms such as GitHub
  • Experience in aligning the technical solutions with the business needs
Preferred skills:
  • Expertise in CNN architecture for fraud detection
  • Knowledge of tampering-specific preprocessing techniques
  • Experience in Transformer-Based Models and Other Computer Vision Models
  • Experience with Vision Transformers
  • Proficiency in benchmarking tools and trade-off analysis.
  • Ability to integrate graph databases like Neo4j with ML workflows for tampering detection.
Day to day responsibilities:
  • Analyzing complex structured and unstructured datasets to uncover meaningful patterns and extract valuable insights.
  • Solving business challenges using advanced statistical techniques, machine learning, and predictive modeling.
  • Designing and implementing AI algorithms to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Testing hypotheses and creating actionable recommendations that drive operational improvements.
  • Enabling smarter decision-making through data analysis and predictive insights.
They will also:
  • Work with minimal supervision to apply technical expertise in developing algorithms and building technology solutions.
  • Optimize processes and enhance operational efficiency through innovative data solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments and business areas to address a wide range of challenges.
  • Prioritize practical, value-adding solutions that go beyond informing to actively innovating.
Who is this worker's main interaction going to be with:
  • Working independently and collaborating with five data scientists and the business team
Required Industry Experience:
  • Any industry is welcome; however, if the candidate has done this type of work in the insurance or banking industry, it would be a plus.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Explores research ideas and leads the resulting projects beginning with data gathering and research design, through model building and the communication of results.
  • Leads less complex projects and collaborates with other business units to solve business problems and improve results by applying advanced analytical approaches.
  • With direction, works with other business partners to ensure models and recommendations are well understood and incorporated into product or business processes.
  • Utilizes large-scale data mining and machine learning techniques to discover actionable patterns in the data that optimize or innovate rather than inform.
  • Performs rigorous model evaluation, designs hypothesis tests, oversees test execution and result evaluation.
  • Provides statistical, Machine Learning and programming leadership to the internal teams.
  • Applies knowledge of computer science to run algorithms more efficiently, deploy solutions and find new ways of managing and analyzing the data.
  • Evening/night hours may be required
  • Extra hours may be required during business peaks or to meet seasonal deadlines
  • Weekend hours may be required
Degrees or certifications required/Years of overall experience required: 
  •  Bachelor's degree with quantitative focus in Econometrics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science or elated field (e.g. Mathematics) and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Statistical/Quantitative Modeling and/or Machine Learning tools (R, Python, etc.) and in using various database tools (e.g. Hadoop, SQL) processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Statistical/Quantitative Modeling and/or Machine Learning tools and in using various database tools processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.  A minimum of 2 years’ experience with mathematical model creation and/or evaluation, hypothesis testing and experimental design.
