Job Title: Cloud Engineer – AWS Focus
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2 to 3 days onsite)
Duration: 6+ Months (Possible Extension)
 
Position Overview
Client is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer (AWS) to join their cloud engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and implementing scalable cloud solutions using AWS services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, and modern programming languages. This role will work closely with architecture, DevOps, and application development teams to enable secure, automated, and efficient cloud deployments.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain AWS-based infrastructure supporting enterprise applications and platforms.
• Develop reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates using tools such as AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Implement automation scripts and deployment pipelines using TypeScript, Node.js, and Python.
• Collaborate with application teams to design containerized solutions using Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or Amazon ECS/EKS.
• Monitor and optimize cloud environments for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure all solutions align with security, compliance, and operational best practices.
• Support incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for cloud-related issues.
• Document cloud environments, processes, and standards to ensure knowledge sharing and operational transparency.

 
Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience working with AWS cloud services (compute, networking, storage, IAM, Lambda, etc.).
• Strong proficiency with IaC tools such as AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Advanced scripting and programming experience in TypeScript, Node.js, and Python.
• Solid understanding of containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes, ECS, EKS).
• Proven ability to automate cloud operations and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of cloud security principles, IAM policies, and network configurations.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
• Previous experience within financial services or highly regulated environments is an asset.

 
Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Developer).
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, ELK, etc.).
• Experience integrating DevSecOps practices in cloud environments.
