Job Description

Job Title: L&D Development Specialist IV/Onboarding Instructional Designer
Location: Remote
Duration: 12 months

 
Role Overview
The Onboarding Instructional Designer role will shape and optimize Client’s learning experiences and resources for new hires company-wide to build core skills critical to their success. With a continuous pulse on the needs of new learners and a dynamic understanding of onboarding capabilities and expectations, this role will support the onboarding program managers to improve program content for both live facilitated and self-paced content.
The Onboarding Instructional Designer role, requiring 8+ years of experience in shaping and optimizing global learning experiences through strong writing, editing, and effective communication skills, alongside expertise in the full lifecycle of learning content design and creation.
The Onboarding Instructional Designer will partner with program managers for company-wide curriculum-specific and role-based programming. This role will also be responsible for supporting relationships needed for designing best-in-class learning experiences, assisting with SME relationships, and connecting across programs. This role will be involved in supporting new ideas while working closely with implementation and program partners to craft ways forward and move development experiences through to the maintenance phase.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Supports needs analysis to help identify priority onboarding skill development opportunities. Works closely with program managers on gap analysis and where content needs to be updated/revamped.
  • Partners across onboarding programs to support the overall strategy from a content standpoint, connecting dots across programs.
  • Leads full lifecycle of learning content design and creation, including: drafting outlines; designing course content; working with XFN partners; managing stakeholders; editing; and partnering across the team.
  • Supports communication—setting tone, voice, and key messages of the program—and assists with socialization with key stakeholders to ensure XFN alignment and buy-in.
  • Creates program content combining needs from various stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Partners with members of the project team to improve efficiency and effectiveness as it relates to learning content. Always be pushing the boundary on how we approach learning, testing new methodologies or modalities to ensure the best learning experiences.
  • Acts as a support POC for audiences, ensuring skills development opportunities are built into broader people initiatives.
  • Supports facilitation training for those delivering the content.
Skillsets / Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience managing internal and external facing projects within a highly matrixed organization through regular communications & meetings.
  • Experience supporting a full lifecycle of learning content design, creation, and facilitation.
  • Experience developing and delivering programs that will be deployed globally to an international audience.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to collaborate, share, and drive best practices cross-functionally and globally.
  • Good problem-solving and creative solution development skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with a proven history of success working across functions and teams.
  • Resourceful, action-oriented with experience to get things done independently and overcome obstacles by developing creative solutions to problems.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, scrappy environment, thriving amidst ambiguity while ensuring executional excellence.
