Job Title: Network Engineer V
Location: Herndon, VA – Onsite
Duration: 12 Months

 
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer V with a minimum of 7+ years of industry experience to support large-scale, mission-critical network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IP networking, routing protocols, and troubleshooting complex network systems.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, high-performance network solutions.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex network issues.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure network reliability, security, and performance.
  • Support operational readiness, monitoring, and capacity planning efforts.
  • Contribute to network documentation, standards, and best practices.
 
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in IP networking fundamentals and protocol applications.
  • Expert-level knowledge of major Internet routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF.
  • Deep familiarity with Cisco router platforms: 37xx, 49xx, 65xx, 73xx, and 76xx, including relevant supervisory and line cards.
  • Strong network analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Practical experience with a broad range of protocols and technologies, including:
    • DWDM, T1/DS1, DS3, SONET (OC3, OC48)
    • Ethernet (802.2/3), VLANs/STP (802.1d)
    • IPv4, IPv6, TCP (internals & flow control)
    • BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP
    • TACACS, IPSEC, VPNs, NetFlow, DNS, HTTP
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE) are strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive projects independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

  1. Advanced networking expertise (BGP, OSPF, Cisco platforms)
  2. Deep understanding of network operations and troubleshooting
  3. Strong sense of ownership and accountability
