Job Title: Financial Analyst
Hiring Manager: Finance Director
Location Address: 250 Vesey Street 23-24 FL - onsite 3x/week
Contract Duration: 1 year
Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week (Possible OT)
Story Behind the Need
• Business group: New York Agency - Finance, supporting regulatory reporting
• Project: Support branch, broker dealers, and operations projects.

Typical Day in Role
• Prepare business requirements and functional specifications to support Finance regulatory reporting system change initiatives, specifically the FR-Y15 report. Ensure they are reasonably sufficient and adequate in content, structure, and logic to provide application developers the necessary technical information to design, build and configure Axiom, or related software.
• Understand data at its source and the corresponding general ledger and data warehouse relationships.
• Manage all phases of testing, and underlying reconciliation to source data.
• Develop and implement interim solutions to address regulatory reporting issues.
• Review regulatory reporting reports against risk reporting (inter-report reconciliation) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness among other factors.
• Review system data flows and be able to identify issues and offer solutions.
• Work closely with Data Group Office to identify, and document data quality issues and offer solutions.
• Identify, analyze, and prioritize internal control issues that result in reporting weakness; conduct analysis of Axiom related issues to assess risk and determine root cause.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
• 8+ years financial/regulatory and/or accounting experience required.
• Understanding of business risks and internal controls.
• Knowledge of objectives and content of U.S. regulatory reporting.
• 5+ years of Experience in assessing and escalating sensitive issues, preform root cause analysis, and develop tactical and strategic preventive measures.
• 3+ years’ experience with capital markets products.
Soft Skills:
• Ability to develop strong relationships and to gain the confidence of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated results in unstructured situations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate objectives and document results.
Nice to Haves:
• Familiar with Axiom application development life cycle methodologies
• Familiar with FR-Y15 reporting
-CPA preferred
Best vs Average: Seeking resources who have strong product, accounting, and reporting knowledge and have a solid understanding of the business and its products.
Degrees or certifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related financial discipline required. An advanced degree in a financial discipline is preferred.
