Job Title: Mainframe Developer
Location: Austin, TX (Onsite 3–4 days per week)
Duration: 6 Months with potential for extension
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with at least 10 years of hands-on development experience to design, implement, and test changes to mission-critical COBOL/DB2 applications. The ideal candidate will work in an Agile/Scrum environment, collaborating with internal teams and using JIRA and Confluence for tracking and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:

Implement code changes in COBOL programs, copybooks, JCL, and DB2 stored procedures.

Perform unit testing for COBOL, copybooks, JCL, and DB2 stored procedures.

Support QA during integration and regression testing, assisting in defect reproduction and diagnosis.

Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies, including daily standups.

Collaborate with internal Schwab teams to validate dependencies and integrations.

Coordinate with external vendors for testing and validation of dependencies.

Document all code changes, testing results, and processes in Confluence.

Track tasks, issues, and progress using JIRA.
Required Skills & Experience:

Strong COBOL development experience (10+ years).

Proficiency with DB2 and DB2 stored procedures.

Hands-on experience with JCL and z/OS or MVS environments.

Solid understanding of unit testing for mainframe components.

Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams.

Proficiency with JIRA and Confluence for documentation and tracking.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications: -
Experience with ChangeMan or similar mainframe change/release tools.

Familiarity with VSAM, IMS, or other mainframe databases.

Exposure to mainframe debugging and performance optimization tools.
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field,
or equivalent professional experience.
