Job Description

Title: Financial Analyst
Work Location: North Chicago, Illinois, 60064
Assignment Duration: 3 months (based on performance and business needs)
 
Work Schedule:
  • 3 days in the office: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (current)
  • Changing to Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in 2026
  • During closing week: 4 days in the office, regardless of the day
 
Position Summary
The Senior Analyst, Finance is responsible for financial accounting, cost allocation, data collection, and preparation of reports to maintain cost accounting systems for supported businesses. The role focuses on partnering with operations to support site performance, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
 
Background & Context
  • 100% focused on collaborating with operations to enhance site performance, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Supports the hiring manager overseeing multiple sites (3 sites), with collaboration primarily with the main site in Cincinnati for reporting.
  • Operates within a small team environment (3 team members).
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and review month-end processes, including inventory reconciliation, manufacturing variance analytics, and general ledger account reconciliation.
  • Conduct plant reviews to assess business growth/performance, analyzing variances of actuals versus plan.
  • Provide financial support for Plan and Update processes, including Flash/Latest Best Estimate (LBE) preparation, variance analysis, and mid-month actuals trend analysis against LBE for plant management.
  • Assist the Operations team in identifying cost reduction opportunities, operational improvements, annual budget processes, periodic forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and develop standards for assigned business units or product families, ensuring timely communication of information.
  • Maintain internal controls and account reconciliations to ensure appropriate asset valuation and safeguards.
  • Prepare and analyze journal entries during the month-end close process.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis to support complex decision-making.
 
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of related accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in MS Excel and SAP.
    • Working knowledge of the Corporate Financial Manual (CFM) and ability to apply policies to business issues.
  • Preferred Skills: Familiarity with standard cost variance analysis.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet required timelines.
