Job Title: Chemical Data Administrator / Data Support Specialist
Location: Boise, ID 83716
Duration: 12 months Assignment
Shift/Hours: 40hours/week, 8am to 5pm MST (Occasional evening meetings (e.g., 6 PM calls with Singapore).
Work Model: Mon –Thurs onsite, Friday work-from-home.

Essential Software:
• Prior office or corporate experience is preferred.
• Internship or academic experience acceptable for newer graduates.
• Open to candidates from lab environments who handled chemical data, reports, or Excel analysis.
• Key is the ability to transition into a data-driven administrative setting.
Soft Skills & Key Traits:
• High attention to detail — must ensure accuracy across multiple systems.
• Persistence and focus — data cleanup can be repetitive and lengthy.
• Organization and accountability — track changes methodically.
• Problem-solving mindset — ability to troubleshoot data mismatches.
• Adaptability — willing to learn internal systems and processes.
• Communication skills — able to collaborate with global teams and report findings clearly.
Focus areas:
• Data entry, auditing, and cleanup of chemical records.
• Matching CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) numbers accurately.
• Removing duplicate or orphan records.
• Aligning data consistency between multiple systems (chemical management, purchasing, units of measure).
• Supports internal chemical management systems (SAP + possible upcoming software).

Summary:
- This role will aid in data entry / clean-up of chemical records including reassigning or removing duplicate materials, CAS records, deletion of orphaned records, etc.
- The person will maintain and updates complex files or record systems, including data in SAP and other chemical management systems.
- The candidate will also help audit completeness and compliance of chemical records to a list of minimum expectations.
- The role will also support pulling data, completing documentation, and reviewing responses with a team for one or more regulatory reports.
- Candidate may need to also assist in layout and formatting of various data and writing summary reports.
- Associate’s degree in a science related field is required with a preference for Chemistry related degree.
- Some or all completed course work for a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science are strongly preferred.
- 3+ years experience working in an office setting is preferred.
Core Responsibilities:
Data Maintenance & Auditing
- Verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance of chemical data.
- Ensure each record includes required fields and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Identify and correct inconsistencies across multiple systems.
System Work
- Work primarily in SAP (training provided if needed).
- Possible exposure to a new chemical data platform under evaluation.
Data Quality Assurance
- Validate and reconcile records between systems.
- Track data changes and ensure updates flow through all platforms.
- Maintain and report on units of measure, composition, and naming conventions.
- Prepare simple summary reports, specifications, or data summaries.
- Maintain and update internal documentation as needed.
- Perform basic data analysis in Excel.
Essential Software:
- Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- SAP (preferred but training will be provided).
- Must know basic to intermediate functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, formatting, sorting).
- Macros / Automation skills are a strong plus (Client pushing for data automation).
- Familiarity with Power BI or AI tools / Copilot is a “nice-to-have.”
- Basic understanding requires advanced chemistry.
- Recognize CAS numbers, chemical naming conventions, and SDS components.
- Awareness of units of measure, common chemical properties (specific gravity, etc.).
- Minimum: Associate’s degree or partial bachelor’s coursework.
- Preferred majors:
- Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.
- Candidates with basic lab or scientific coursework are acceptable.
