Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Location: 10720 Barker Cypress Road Cypress TX
Duration: 3 months
Schedule: 1st shift Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
Vaccines required: Hep B, TB
IV mode- Video conference
Required:
Draws on all ages – being able to handle large load of patients.
Hard sticks and needles
Summary
The primary function of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal).

Label specimens, centrifuge, split, freeze, and store according to test orders and protocols.

Accurately match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Explain procedures to patients clearly and courteously.

Demonstrate phlebotomy techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Verify test requisitions and labels for accuracy.

Package and transport specimens per regulatory and protocol guidelines.

Maintain specimen integrity by storing at required temperatures.

Record maintenance data and perform decontamination tasks.

Update patient information in systems accurately.

Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Attend annual departmental training.

Answer telephone inquiries and provide lab results when appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Valid Phlebotomy certification (state-specific, where required).

High School Diploma or GED.
-
2-4 years of phlebotomy experience.

Minimum 12 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
