Position Title: Pharmacy Technician
Work Location: 845 Regent Blvd, Irving, TX, USA 75063
Assignment Duration: 3 months
Work Schedule: M-F on-site 9am to 6pm; Weekends/OT possible based on business needs
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Tech, under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist working within a licensed pharmacy, performs the technical, nonjudgmental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record keeping and inventory control. Tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered nurse or a registered pharmacist.

Specific state law may regulate that only licensed individuals perform compounding or mixing responsibilities; certain incumbents are prohibited from these tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Show initiative and take an enthusiastic proactive approach to work.

Exhibit sense of urgency and superb multi-tasking skills.

Check all orders for completeness of information.

Ability to read and interpret prescriptions.
-
Verify patient information and proper physician authorization.
-
Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.

Assist Pharmacists in the safe distribution of medications and provision of pharmaceutical care.

Enter and process new prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system where permitted by pharmacy regulation, only at the direction of the supervising pharmacist.

Process prescription refills, including refill confirmation, review pending refills with the supervising pharmacist, generate refill documentation, and process third party claims adjudication.

Maintain a neat and clean workstation.

Accurately process all orders in a timely manner.

Assist in maintaining the accuracy of software templates.

Support phone calls as needed.

Lift up to 40 pounds in case support needed in fulfillment.

Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA.

Perform other tasks as assigned by Management.
Qualification & Experience:

High school graduate or equivalent.

1-3 years of experience in a Data Intake Pharmacy.

TX Pharmacy Technician License.

Must type at least 35 words per minute.
Physical Demands:

Requires full range of body motion, manual/finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and ability to read and note measurements.

Requires sitting/standing for extensive periods. Reasonable accommodations possible for disabilities.
Work Environment:

Regular exposure to direct patient contact and potential exposure to toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents.
