Job Title: Cybersecurity Engineer
Location: Remote (Preferred Honolulu, HI or East Coast Time Zones)
Duration: 12 Months
Hours/Week: 40
Role Overview
We are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to support and enhance our organization’s cybersecurity posture. This role will focus heavily on supporting the deployment, administration, and maintenance of Island Browser—a secure web browser used for Zero Trust Network Access—along with other cybersecurity tools and applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with security engineering/administration in sprint-based environments, while also contributing to core cybersecurity operations, incident response, compliance, and identity-related tasks.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain broad exposure to security technologies while working with senior cybersecurity engineers to protect critical IT infrastructure, networks, and applications.

Key Responsibilities
- Island Browser & Cybersecurity Tooling
- Stand up, deploy, and maintain Island Browser and other cybersecurity tools.
- Support secure configuration, upgrades, and ongoing administration.
- Security Monitoring & Incident Response
- Assist in monitoring SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, and firewalls.
- Support cyber operations, incident investigations, and evidence collection.
- System & Identity Security
- Apply patches, harden systems, and reduce vulnerabilities.
- Support identity and access management, authentication, and privilege reviews.
- Vulnerability & Compliance Management
- Assist with vulnerability scanning, remediation tracking, and reporting.
- Support compliance efforts with frameworks such as NIST, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and GDPR.
- Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with IT, network, and systems teams to ensure secure operations.
- Maintain documentation including security policies, procedures, and incident reports.
- Contribute to sprint planning, task assignments, and Agile ceremonies.
- Awareness & Testing
- Support end-user training and security awareness programs.
- Perform basic penetration testing and assist with identifying vulnerabilities.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, Network Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
Top 3 Must-Haves (Non-Negotiable):
- Experience with Island Browser.
- Strong background in engineering/administration (not software development).
- Experience working with Agile sprints and task assignments.
Certifications (Preferred):
- CompTIA Security+
- CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker)
- Cisco CyberOps Associate
- CISSP (pursuing or experienced candidates)
