Description:
- We are seeking a Staff-level R&D Engineer to join our product development team focused on capital equipment, with an emphasis on innovation, concept development, and system integration. The ideal candidate will be experienced in leading research-driven product development efforts and will play a key role in transforming ideas into validated, manufacturable medical devices or systems.
- Lead and contribute to the design and development of complex electromechanical systems and capital equipment from concept through commercialization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical, electrical, software, and manufacturing, to translate user needs and technical requirements into feasible product designs.
- Apply R&D methodologies to explore new technologies, perform feasibility studies, and reduce technical risk early in development.
- Utilize advanced problem-solving and analytical techniques, including design of experiments (DOE), root cause analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
- Design and execute engineering tests and experiments to validate concepts and prototypes.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers or project team members.
- Document all phases of development in accordance with regulated industry (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485) requirements.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders to understand product needs and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 8 years of R&D experience in the development of capital equipment and electromechanical systems
- Proven experience in early-stage concept development, prototyping, and technology evaluation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead or mentor a small, multidisciplinary team
- Experience in the medical device industry or other regulated industries
- Familiarity with systems engineering practices
- Knowledge of risk management, design controls, and regulatory documentation
- Strong background in R&D, medical device development, capital equipment, and early-stage design and innovation.
