Title: Tax Reporting Specialist III
Location: Remote
Duration: 20 months (Possible contract to hire)
Schedule: 8AM - 5PM, Mon-Fri
Summary:
The Payroll Tax Reporting Specialist III possesses comprehensive knowledge of payroll tax practices, the ability to independently investigate and resolve the most complex payroll tax problems, communicating the resolution of these issues to internal and external customers, and tax authorities.

Summary:

Degrees or certifications required/Years of overall experience required: -
- High School diploma/GED equivalent or higher and a minimum of 4 years multi-state/local tax and 1 year customer service experience.
- {OR} Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Business Management and a minimum of 4 years multi-state/local tax and 1 year customer service experience
Top must-have skills / Candidate Requirements:
- Peoplesoft Payroll Tax.
- ADP Master Tax.
- Advanced Level Excel (Must know how to do V-Look Ups and Pivot Tables).
- Knowledge of Tax law and Accounting Principles.
- Attention to Detail.
- Strong critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in conducting tax research.
- Recognize process improvement- when needed.
- Excellent interpersonal communication.

Day to day responsibilities:
- Files and reconciles the most complex payroll tax returns: Federal, State, SUI-State Unemployment Insurance , Local and FUTA (Federal Unemployment Tax Act).
- Must have 5yrs exp paying and filing these items.
- Research payroll/tax system issues and provides recommendations to manager.
- Training and mentoring co-workers.
- Will be involved with W-2 process.
- Recommends process improvements/procedures to manager and leads the implementation of approved process changes.
- Research and review payroll tax regulation changes for impact to the company.

- The Tax team and customers (internal business units).

- Tax Knowledge; how well they mentor and help the tax team; do they work well with others; customer services.

Interview Process:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Files and reconciles the most complex payroll tax returns (quarterly) and creates required general ledger entries.
- Research payroll/tax system issues and provides recommendations to manager.
- Leads payroll tax projects, conducts research and analysis, tax update testing, reporting, process documentation and training to HRSC, co-workers.
- Leads responsibility for year-end processing and generating the W-2's. - Responsible for updates to the yearend tax tables in PeopleSoft.
- Recommends process improvements/procedures to manager and leads the implementation of approved process changes.
- Delegates for SOX compliance.
- Research and review payroll tax regulation changes for impact to the company.
- Maintains vendor relationships.
- No regular travel required.
- Able to work assigned schedule subject the company’s flexible schedule policies and practices.
Knowledge, Skills/Abilities:
- Strong customer service orientation required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll tax laws (federal, state and local) required.
- Expert knowledge of the company’s systems including PeopleSoft, payroll tax application software, G/L, APMI, and Query tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills required.
- Advanced skills in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word), Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, SDM requirements.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Office/ Work from Home Office/ Emerging Workspace.
- Requires the use of typical office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, etc.) whether working from home or in office. Computer keyboarding, computer monitor and mouse use including reaching forward, grasping, finger and wrist manipulation, and neck bending and turning; near vision is necessary for computer monitor use. If working in-office, individual will work in a typical office environment. If working in an Emerging Workspace, or similar working arrangement, or working from more than one location lifting of laptop equipment, files and/or personal belongings weighing 10 lbs. or less is required. High-speed internet access is required if working from a home office, at the employee's expense unless otherwise required by law.
