Job Title: Engineer, Electrical & Control / Design Engineer II
Location: Chatham or Vaughan Pipeline Control Centre (VPC), North York, ON
Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite and 2 days remote)
Position Overview
The Engineer, Electrical & Control is primarily accountable for delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical, control, and telemetry designs. This role ensures compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and best practices in the development and implementation of gas distribution and compression infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities

Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, and arc-flash analysis using EasyPower.

Design electrical and control systems for gas distribution networks and compressor stations.

Provide technical expertise on electrical, instrumentation, and control systems during design, commissioning, and operational phases.

Identify and integrate design optimizations related to throughput, cost, reliability, and risk for equipment, personnel, and the environment.

Deliver and lead engineering assessments, capital projects, and maintenance project designs.

Support and lead engineering tasks for integration initiatives aimed at optimizing engineering and operations workflows.

Collaborate with the Stations and Low Carbon Transition Engineering Group to align on design requirements and participate in design reviews.

Participate actively in risk assessments, asset management reviews, and industry-related activities.

Lead stakeholder communications and responses to design change requests.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, including:

Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or eligible for registration with PEO.

Minimum 4 years of relevant technical experience in electrical/control system design.

At least 2 years of experience in power system modeling (preferred).

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook).

Ability to collaborate effectively with clients and vendors while upholding business ethics and objectives.

Knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices.

Demonstrated organizational, planning, negotiation, and leadership capabilities.
Working Conditions
-
Travel Requirement: Up to 20% within Ontario.

Must possess a valid G-class driver’s license and provide a clean driver’s abstract.
