Location: Guayama, PR

Job Summary:
  • The Packaging Operator I is accountable for executing and documenting the packaging operating steps on batches of products by utilizing the proper equipment and followinginstructions defined in applicable safety policies, procedures, and Batch Production Records in either electronic or paper format following current procedures, documentation practices and cGMPs. The operating steps include filling, metal detection, capping, sealing, labeling, cartoning, automatic inspection system, tray pack, wrapping, case packing, and palletizing. Technical functions include operate, cleaning, setup, changeover, adjustments, assist inpreventive maintenance and minor repairs, material handling, packaging componentsverification, and return unused packaging components and bulk after process is finished. Is also responsible to supply components or bulk during packaging operations at all stations, request additional components if needed during the packaging process, prepare and process rejected packaging components and bulk material for destruction, as well as monitor packaging operations, perform quality in-process checks and device challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Request additional components or bulk as needed.
  • Receive materials and perform verification with SAP.
  • Coordinate in advance required materials for the next order.
  • Coordinate waste removal from the line.
  • Apply safety policies and GMP knowledge in daily operations involving self and other team members (i.e., LOTO {Lock Out/Tag Out}, PPE {Personal Protective Equipment} utilization, housekeeping, gowning, good documentation practices, and line clearance failure prevention).
  • Perform cleaning process in the packaging line, washroom, equipment and general area as per respective SOPs.
  • Assure that all components and equipment are ready for packaging when needed.
  • Perform minor machines changeover and setup, clean and operate equipment following weekly packaging schedule and related SOPs.
  • Transfer materials between work centers as needed to meet daily schedule.
  • Know and follow instructions on Packaging Records (paper or electronic): Monitor operating parameters and physical attributes of product/process during packaging steps.
  • Perform record entries according to established SOPs.
  • Communicate packaging deviations immediately and participate in troubleshooting with other team members.
  • Recordreconciliation of documentation and components.
  • Participate in process improvement projects.
  • Exhibit Company values and work in a team environment to accomplish individual/team goals in the packaging of products.
  • Inspect product to ensure that product is packaged according to procedures, qualityrequirements, and established batch integrity.
  • Minor maintenance of equipment and instrument Preventive Maintenance (PM): Performbasic preventive maintenance and minor repairs and assist in basic troubleshooting of packaging equipment and instruments.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma with (3) three years experience as Operator in the pharmaceutical industry; or Associate Degree in science, engineering or related field with(1) One -year experience; or Bachelors Degree with no experience.
  • Bilingual (English written and reading comprehension).
