Job Description

Job Title: Process and Controls Automation Engineer
Location: Carrollton, GA (Hybird, 2-3 days a week)
Duration: Fulltime Permanent
 
Travel: Up to 25% (including international)
 

Position Summary
The Process & Control Automation Engineer III supports SCR automation design, development, and startup initiatives. This role works cross-functionally to design, program, and commission control systems, and will transfer technical knowledge to SCR customers through training, presentations, and startup assistance.
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, design, maintain, and commission automation/control systems for industrial equipment.
  • Program PLCs, drive systems, and combustion control systems (Allen Bradley or Siemens).
  • Create SCADA and operator interface (HMI) applications.
  • Design databases and write custom programs for PLC–SCADA integration.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components, diagnosing and resolving issues.
  • Produce project documentation, electrical schematics (AutoCAD), and manuals.
  • Develop scope of work, cost estimates, and budgets for electrical systems.
  • Build deep knowledge of SCR systems including fluid systems, metallurgy, furnace operations, material handling, and hands-on machinery operation.
  • Lead on-site commissioning of complete SCR systems.
  • Deliver training, presentations, and startup assistance to SCR customers.
 Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years in automation and controls engineering.

Technical Skills:

  • PLC programming (Allen Bradley or Siemens)
  • Drive system configuration
  • AutoCAD for electrical schematics
  • SCADA/HMI development
  • Computer programming, networking, database, and reporting skills
 Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 10+ years in relevant field.
  • Technical Expertise: AutoCAD, PLC programming, drives, controls, combustion systems.
  • Industry Experience: Molten metal processing.
