Title: Sr Video Engineer 
Location: Menlo Park, CA (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Duration: 12 months 
 
Role Description
The Video Engineer will be responsible for the QA, monitoring, and testing of video and multimedia services such as short-form video and real-time voice/video calling in a lab environment and across lab testbeds. Vendor shall:

1. Provide evaluation and selection of tools, metrics, and test equipment to evaluate and monitor multimedia service quality of experience (QoE).
2. Develop comprehensive test plans and conduct test campaigns on mobile devices across operating systems (e.g., Android, iOS), including automation of realistic user interaction patterns.
3. Conduct testing and performance analysis of video services, including streaming video quality, degradation factors, encoding/decoding, protocols, playout/prefetching, and quality metrics.
4. Capture and analyze key QoE metrics such as initial video loading delay, rebuffering events, stalls, video fidelity, and data throughput, normalized by video content complexity.
5. Provide testing support with video QoE test equipment, vendors, and test tools, ensuring platform stability and reliability.
6. Synthesize and compare test results from campaigns, preparing clear, actionable reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
7. Monitor the state of testbeds and benchmarking platforms, troubleshoot issues, report root causes, and implement resolutions.
8. Provide thorough documentation for all services, including system block diagrams, test results, and methods of procedures.
9. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including video infrastructure, network infrastructure, data science, and product teams to continuously improve testing methodologies and platform capabilities.
10. Operate and manage the fleet of test devices and automation systems in production, including troubleshooting user accounts, resolving campaign execution issues, and ensuring continuous and reliable operation of benchmarking campaigns.
11. Must have strong knowledge of SQL and Python to develop data extraction, analysis, and automation scripts essential for test campaigns and reporting.

 
Responsibilities:

• Familiarity with short-form or long-form streaming video (systems, encoding/decoding, protocols, playout, quality metrics)
• Familiar with video service quality, degradation influence factors
• Experience with various test equipment to measure video quality metrics in a lab environment
• Familiar with various protocols such as DASH, ABR, prefetching
• Familiarity with test equipment/vendors (e.g, witbe, headspin, viavi, keysight) and test tools
• Strong linux experience
• Experience with mobile devices OS and testing (eg android / adb skills)

2. What percentage of the role involves hands-on coding vs. tool usage and testing?
Ans 50-50%

3. Which tools or platforms are currently used for testing video quality
Ans they are using internal meta tools. Any tools in video testing will work here

4. How critical is Android/ADB experience vs. general video testing experience?
Ans would be very helpful to know ADB commands. ADB and android is plus

5. What are the absolute must-have skills or experiences you're looking for in this candidate?
Ans. Skills: know Instagram, FB and competitors like tiktok, know meaning on reels, content creations, running campaigns, securing test plans
