Job Description

Title: Production Support Engineer
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Smithfield, RI (Local candidates will be screened first)
Hybrid work: Required to work in office 5 day every other week 
*Must be available for onsite interview*
**24/7 must be available for a call to help remotely at night, early morning etc. (Support until 11:30 PM)
(Manager mentioned she has only needed mid-night support once every 3 months or less on average)
 
The Role:

  • Member of an agile engineering scrum team working in a fast-paced environment, closely collaborating with product, architecture, and other engineering teams.
  • We will provide a mentor for you as you learn to navigate your new role. We offer dedicated time each month to investigate new technologies.
Typical career path for this role:

Requires skills:
  • 24* 7 Production On-call experience (Some weekends)
  • Java - Spring boot , Angular (Debugging / troubleshooting aspects ; Being able to learn through code and understand)
  • Debugging cloud Applications ( Containerized )
  • Monitoring & Alerting using tools like Splunk & Datadog to check application health, performance and identify potential issues before impacting users            
  • Database - Oracle PL/SQL   
  • ETL - Informatica / Snaplogic
  • .NET   
  • CTRL-M ( any scheduler / job orchestration)
Nice to haves:
  • Open mindset to support both sides
  • RDBMS relational
  • DB2 & Sybase – Query the database experience (Do not need database development experience)
Interview Process:
  • 2 rounds of interviews (Manager really wants this 2nd round onsite, but if you can guarantee a relocation and have faith in a candidate we will allow for fully remote interviews, Probably)
Responsibilities:
  • Production support experience with expertise in Java, Spring boot, (Old .Net), Informatica/ETL processes, Relational Databases , tools like Splunk/Datadog
  • Providing on-call support during business and non-business hours
  • Experience in Informatica to monitor jobs & workflows, troubleshooting ETL processes to ensure ETL data pipelines are running efficiently and reliably
  • Exposure to job scheduling & workflow management using Control-M ensuring timely execution of jobs
  • Experience in supporting Angular, Java & .Net apps including debugging & conducting in-depth analysis to identify root cause and prevent recurrence
  • SQL skill is essential for managing various relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 & Sybase
  • Experience with containerization technology like Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins core & Github
  • Monitoring & Alerting using tools like Splunk & Datadog to check application health, performance and identify potential issues before impacting users
  • Participating in the release management process and supporting code deployments
  • Exposure to API clients like Postman, Insomnia
  • Exposure to scripting languages like shell scripting, Python & PlayWright are preferred
  • Exposure to Azure cloud services are preferred
  • Exposure to SnapLogic is preferred
  • Working with development teams to identify and implement long term solutions for permanent remediation
  • Experience in Agile Methodologies
  • Knowledge in scrum tools preferably JIRA

  • You bring an understanding of Micro-services Architecture and domain driven design patterns
  • You have experience with Test automation for unit, functional and non-functional testing (Postman, SOATEST, SOASTA, Cucumber)
  • You have ability to understand and adapt to changing business priorities and technology advancements
  • You have ability to develop technical artifacts based on analysis of business and systems requirements
  • You bring strong organizational skills coupled with effective written and verbal communication skills
  • You have excellent collaboration skills to work with multiple teams in the organization
