Job Description

Job Title: Instructional Designer, Training Curriculum Dev.
Location: Remote
Duration: 4+ Months with possibility of extension.
 
Notes:
  • Open to local and non-local candidates.
  • If selected candidate is outside of CA and outside of client’s service territory, then the candidate must use his/her own laptop.
  • Assignment is mainly remote but there is an opportunity to be on-site but not a mandated amount of time.
  • If an onsite visit to an energized field is required (not anticipate), client will provide ppe.

Job Description:
  • Partner with SID and SMEs to conceptualize training design and content.
  • Define learning objectives, course structure, learning content and assessments.
  • Complete detailed analysis of existing content and each task to be trained/supported for target audience, business process, and systems.
  • Follow company standards, guidelines, and templates to develop learning materials including student and facilitator presentations and guides, activities, scenarios, and assessments.
  • Create instructional graphics, scenarios, or interactions.
  • Write clear and effective instruction and facilitator text appropriate for the target audience.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual meetings with subject matter experts including task analysis, alpha, beta, and answer validation meetings.
  • It would be beneficial if you are in the Northern California/San Francisco area but not required.
  • Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation.
  • Receive and incorporate feedback.
  • Self-manage assigned tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables.
  • Proactively communicate issues and risks.
 
Required Skills:
  • 3+ years’ experience developing instructor-led, eLearning, or virtual training in a technical environment.
  • Comfortable and capable of working on a High Performing Team.
  • Experience with technical writing.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies.
  • Very strong Task Analysis knowledge and capability.
  • Strong knowledge of PowerPoint and Word.
  • Flexibility to work on simultaneous development efforts, as needed.
 
Highly Desired:
  • Safety knowledge strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of QuestionMark and Author-it.
  • Experience developing training for utility industry.
