Job Description
Position Title: Laboratory Technician
Work Location: Johnston, Iowa
Assignment Duration: 12 months
Position Summary:
• With guidance from supervision, assists technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research.
• Works as part of a team to support the research and development of plant genome editing technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assists team members conducting experiments and technical operations.
• Understands and follows laboratory protocols and completes tasks in a timely fashion.
• Helps formulate work plans and efficiently manages own daily workload.
Qualification & Experience:
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in biochemistry, biological science, genetics, or related field
• Familiarity performing routine molecular biology procedures including but not limited to:
o vector construction
o E. coli transformation
o DNA extraction (plasmid and genomic)
o PCR
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software
• Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
• Strong organizational skills and detail orientated
• Ability to follow company safety policies and procedures.
