Job Description:
  • The Reality Labs team is looking for Software Engineers to support our engineering teams as we build towards our goal of helping more people around the world come together and connect through world-class Augmented and Mixed Reality hardware and software. With global departments dedicated to AR/MR research, computer vision, haptics, social interaction, and more, we are committed to driving the state-of-the-art forward through relentless innovation.   • In this role, you will be building data collection tools that work with specialized hardware and allow us to collect real world data at a large scale. We're addressing a variety of technical challenges in the areas of collecting high quality data and generating ground truth that enables the training and evaluation of various ML models, including depth estimation, object detection, scene understanding, 3D reconstruction, SLAM tracking and occlusion modeling.
Top 3 must-have HARD skills:
  • Proficient with Python or C/C++
  • Experience with Linux command-line tools and shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet and Wi-Fi networking protocols.
Good to have skills:
  • Strong skills in writing and debugging bash scripts for automation tasks, such as log collection, system monitoring, and routine maintenance.
  • Effective communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and document troubleshooting steps and solutions.
Years of experience needed:
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field and 2+ years of industrial experience
Software Engineer Responsibilities
  • Design and implement core data collection tooling components
  • Conduct design and code reviews
  • Maintain, analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system infrastructure
  • Establish self as an owner of a particular component, feature or system with expert end-to-end understanding
  • Successfully completes projects at large scope while maintaining a consistent high level of productivity
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency in Python or C++, and experience in developing, debugging, and optimizing user facing applications.
  • Experience with Linux command-line tools and shell scripting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • Experience with network configuration and troubleshooting, including tools like iwconfig, ifconfig, netstat, and tcpdump.
  • Knowledge of Android Debug Bridge (ADB) for device communication and control.
  • Experience with debugging tools for diagnosing and resolving issues within the Linux operating system and networking layers
Typical Day in the Role:
  • Meeting with team members on projects, coding and code-reviewing, writing design docs, brainstorming and presenting designs and maintaining the production systems.
