Job Description
Job Title: PLC Programmer / Controls Engineer
Location: Plano, TX (Onsite )
Duration: 6-month contract to start – possibility for extension/conversion
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week (in-person)
Overtime: Optional, based on project needs
Travel: No overnight travel expected
Job Responsibilities:

Lead the development of an innovative prototype for automated restaurant equipment

Collaborate with design engineers to finalize selection of sensors, motors, and electrical components

Finalize control panel design using standardized architecture and components

Complete and release electrical BOM for procurement

Update wiring diagrams using provided templates

Develop and debug ladder logic programs for sequence and control in Automation Direct PLCs
-
Integrate stepper motors, gantry/motion systems, and various sensors

Participate hands-on in building, wiring, debugging, and testing of control systems
Skills & Experience Required:
PLC Programming:
-
5+ years of experience in PLC ladder logic programming and debugging
-
Proficiency in developing ladder logic programs from scratch

Experience with Automation Direct PLCs (ProductivitySuite software preferred)

Familiarity with recipe management, data management, remote data logging, or MQTT protocol is a plus
Automation & Controls:

Ability to specify sensors, stepper motors, and electrical components

Understanding of basic safety systems and safety relays

Experience with ANSI, CE, TUV, or UL standards is a plus
Electrical:
-
Proficient in wiring and troubleshooting control panels and low/high voltage devices (including 120VAC)

Skilled in reading, modifying, and creating simple wiring diagrams

Hands-on and willing to assist in physical build and testing

Passionate about automation and innovative technology

Comfortable taking full ownership of controls design and PLC programming tasks
