Position Title: Research Associate/ Sr. Research Associate Contractor, Capsid Engineering- NGS
Work Location: Waltham, MA 02451
Assignment Duration: 12 months
Work Arrangement: On-site

Notes:
• BS or MS Degree, must have 2 years of NGS experience, NGS, RNA-seq, AAV Libraries, experience with Illumina.
• Preference for local candidates.
• Free parking at site.
• Nice to Have/ Preferred: Biotech/ Pharm experience.
• Core academic experience will be accepted.

Position Summary: Highly motivated candidate to develop novel technological strategies in capsid discovery using next-generation sequencing for gene therapy programs.
Background & Context:
• Our organization’s Genomic Medicine Unit (GMU) accelerates gene and cell therapies using viral (AAV) and non-viral (LNP) platforms.
• GMU’s AAV Technologies Laboratory focuses on safer gene therapies by identifying novel AAV capsids with improved tropism and immunological profiles.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support and lead the implementation of next-generation sequencing techniques to characterize plasmid/ AAV libraries.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with team members to process RNA samples for RNA-seq of in vitro and in vivo screening studies.
• Implementation of multiple state-of-the-art techniques in molecular biology and biochemistry.
• Initiate, design, analyze, and present experiments at internal meetings.
• Maintain accurate records of experiments and analyses.
• Maintain effective communication with manager and other colleagues.

Qualification & Experience:
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biotechnology or allied fields with at least two years of direct next-generation sequencing experience.
• Prior experience with the following is preferred:
o Amplicon sequencing of DNA libraries
o RNA-seq with cells and/ or tissues
o Operation of Illumina NextSeq instruments
o Familiarity with NGS data analysis platforms
o Experience with laboratory automation for sequencing
• Excellent organizational skills to manage and prioritize schedules, quality control steps, and data analysis.
• Excellent speaking, reading, and writing skills.
• Curiosity and a willingness to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.
