Job Title: Underwriting Program Associate
Location: Whitehouse Station, NJ
Duration: 3 months
Job Schedule: 4 days in office/1-day WFH (Friday)-depending on performance
Job Hours: 8:30am-5:00pm (flexible) 30-minute lunch (40 hour work week)
Job Summary:
The Commercial Insurance Underwriting Program Associate will collaborate with our Managing General Agent (MGU), which specializes in the middle market construction sector. This MGU is authorized to produce and underwrite Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Automobile, and Excess lines of business for Commercial Insurance.
This position will report to the CI Operational Specialist.

Job Summary:
The Commercial Insurance Underwriting Program Associate will collaborate with our Managing General Agent (MGU), which specializes in the middle market construction sector. This position will report to the CI Operational Specialist.
Main Responsibilities:
- Complete the end-to-end process of the monthly General Liability (GL) bordereau, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all deliverables.
- Engage in daily interactions with the MGU Operations and Underwriting staff to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
- Coordinate the processing of Excess newlines and renewals by collaborating with the processing center and MGU team, including accurate data entry into the Excess system.
- Update and maintain rate metrics for accurate and current analysis and reporting.
- Store policy documentation in appropriate electronic files, maintaining integrity and organization.
- Coordinate the distribution and resolution of Workers' Compensation criticisms.
- Prepare and provide necessary information to the processing center for accurate and timely monthly reinsurance transaction bookings.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for the Workers’ Compensation system.
- Collaborate with the collections specialist to resolve premium discrepancies.
- Manage tracking of large deductible policies and related claims activity.
- Assist with UW Audit activities, including retrieving policy documentation.
- Support the submission process for newline activities.
- Maintain tracking and accuracy of Construction Wrap Up policies.
- Perform monthly Texas Accident Prevention processes.
- Complete applicable Motor Carrier Filings.
- Retrieve and distribute Excess loss run reports.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in data entry and computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas – advanced), Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Capable of multitasking and managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Quick learner, able to prioritize tasks and perform under time constraints.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent required; 4-Year Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant insurance experience (Auto, GL, Workers' Comp, and Excess Umbrella) will be considered.
