Job Description

Job Title: SDET - Software Development Engineer in Test - Senior
Duration: 12 Months
Work Location: Onsite Hybrid – Austin, TX (3–4 days a week)

Job Description / Comment:
  • Will interpret written requirements and technical specifications for software solutions to business problems.
  • Will develop software based on the technical specifications.
  • Will analyze and investigate problems with software solutions that have been reported by clients and document the results of their investigation(s).
  • Will perform maintenance of software and correct defects that have been identified during the maintenance process.
  • Will run unit tests on software they create, implement test plans, test harnesses, and document the test results.
  • Will investigate and suggest solutions to defects and problems with software solutions that have been detected during testing.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, execute, and maintain automation test cases and test scenarios for high-volume, low-latency web and desktop applications.
  • Design test automation framework for web services, APIs, and web-based applications.
  • Ensure automation is constantly running, analyzing, documenting, and promptly reporting on failures.
  • Partner with scrum team members to build out automation solutions to advance SDLCs and meet critical business objectives.
  • Design data persistence using SQL, MongoDB, or any other database management system.
  • Drive a continuous improvement mentality to deliver robust performance testing strategies and methods.
  • Mentor peers and junior SDETs, and create a culture of following automation best practices and standards through code reviews.

Additional Job Details:
  • Experience with Agile/Lean development and testing practices, including Automated Test Driven Development, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery.
  • Experience with web service virtualization, data virtualization, and test data management.
  • Hands-on experience with browser automation testing tools (e.g., Sauce Labs, Selenium, Protractor, CodedUI, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server or document-oriented databases (e.g., MongoDB).
  • Advanced hands-on software development experience and experience with leading automation framework development (6–10 years).
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps and Continuous Integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo, Puppet, etc.).

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in development, execution, and maintenance of automated test scripts.
  • Prior technical lead experience providing mentoring, code review, and design support.
  • Hands-on coding experience in C# /.NET or any other object-oriented programming language.
  • Experience with Selenium WebDriver.
  • Experience with Agile Development Practices.
  • Good understanding of exploratory testing practices.
  • Good knowledge of standard industry tools for logging bugs and managing test cases (e.g., JIRA/MTM, Zephyr/HPQ).
  • Hands-on experience with Web services virtualization.
  • Ability to perform code reviews.
  • Experience with scoping, sizing, and overseeing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to assess the appropriate level of risk-based testing, review team deliverables, and act as the single point of contact for stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work on and lead multiple projects and releases, balancing time and effort for successful delivery.
  • Proven experience as a leader/trainer in a large, complex QA organization, with a demonstrated ability to lead a risk-based approach to software testing.
  • Proven experience driving innovative testing solutions within a complex enterprise platform.
  • Experience with acceptance test-driven development (ATDD) using Gherkin language tools like Cucumber, JBehave, and SpecFlow.
  • Understanding of CI/CD practices and lean methodologies.
  • Experience with Jenkins / Bamboo / GIT.
