Job Title: BI Analyst
Duration: 6 Months Assignment
Location: Rosemead, CA 91770. - Hybrid. In office Monday and Tuesday.
Schedule: 40 hrs/week - M-F 8-5
Note: This will be to build a powerbi dashboard that will also require SQL knowledge for our learning and development group.

• The required level of expertise for this role is now refined to intermediate to advanced proficiency in both:
o Power BI (data modeling, report building, DAX)
o SQL (data extraction, query writing, debugging, and code comprehension)
• Candidates must be able to demonstrate past work in both tools and speak confidently to their approach and logic.
III. Interview Format Expectations
• Live demonstration is a core component of the interview process. To ensure a seamless experience:
o Candidates must have their Power BI and SQL samples already open and accessible before the interview begins.
o This minimizes login delays and allows us to make the best use of our limited interview time.
• Please set this expectation clearly with candidates beforehand.
IV. SQL Code Interpretation
• In addition to demonstrating their own work, candidates will be asked to read and interpret SQL queries provided by our internal team.
• This assesses their ability to collaborate with our analysts and contribute meaningfully to our codebase.
• Ensure the candidates are comfortable with this format and ready to walk through logic and identify gaps or improvements.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Data Extraction & Transformation:
Collaborate with SQL developers to extract and transform data suitable for analysis.
Write SQL queries to gather necessary datasets from databases.
Dashboard Development:
Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports based on business requirements.
Ensure dashboards are visually appealing and user-friendly.
Data Modeling:
Create and manage data models in Power BI, ensuring accurate relationships between datasets.
Performance Optimization:
Optimize Power BI reports for performance, reducing loading times and enhancing user experience.
Debug and resolve any issues that arise with the Power BI dashboards.
User Training & Support:
Provide support and training to end-users, helping them understand and interact with the dashboards effectively.
Maintenance & Updates:
Regularly update dashboards with new data, maintaining data integrity and relevance.
Monitor dashboard performance and user feedback for continuous improvement.
Collaboration:
Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and iterate on dashboard designs.
Participate in team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and roadmap.
Required Skills:
SQL Expertise:
Strong understanding of SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and transformation.
Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries.
Power BI Expertise:
Proven experience in developing dashboards and reports in Power BI.
Knowledge of Power Query and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for data manipulation.
Data Visualization Principles:
Understanding of data visualization best practices to create clear and impactful dashboards.
Analytical Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data trends and provide insights.
Attention to Detail:
Meticulous in ensuring data accuracy and integrity throughout the dashboard development process.
Communication Skills:
Effective communication skills to liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
User Experience (UX) Awareness:
Awareness of user experience design principles to enhance dashboard usability.
Desired Skills:
Experience with Other BI Tools:
Familiarity with other business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik) can be an asset.
Knowledge of ETL Processes:
Understanding of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and tools for data integration.
Project Management Skills:
Ability to manage projects, timelines, and prioritize tasks efficiently.
Education: Bachelor's Degree
