Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid)
Duration: 8 Months
Job Description:
  • Experienced Structural Engineer to join our team as a Structural Design Manager.
  • This person will work on the structural engineering design, strategy and initiatives for Fulfillment Network across North America (NA).
  • This role will report directly to the North American Global Realty Engineering Sr Structural Design Manager.
  • This role will be located in office or virtual with expected periodic travel.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing basis of design, defining strategy and working on novel initiatives for stakeholders inside the company, as well as work with third-party engineering firms to ensure client receives the optimal Structural design for the Fulfillment Network.
  • The candidate will need to work with a multitude of internal stakeholders and organizations to drive the development and management of the Structural design specifications being deployed in NA.
  • A successful candidate must have project and program management experience, deep technical knowledge in structural design, structural materials and specifications, should be comfortable in a fast-paced, technical environment and be able to partner with multiple stakeholders across the company to implement processes and programs that will ultimately drive cost and carbon out of building designs.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Develop, manage, implement and maintain the Structural design standards.
  • Work with diverse stakeholders.
  • This role will be considered the Subject Matter Expert (SME) with regards to Structural Engineering Design and Materials.
  • Manage blocking issues, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and meet committed delivery timelines.
  • Document and present strategies and periodic updates to internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and implement consistent and repeatable processes for new implementations.
  • Participate in business re-engineering activities to support acceptance, implementation and increase effectiveness for Building Design and Engineering teams.
  • This includes working with several project teams regionally and sometimes globally.
  • Create specification documents

    Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in building design and construction, with expertise in structural optimization, and structural materials.
  • Proven track record in structural design optimization, (embodied carbon reduction is a plus).
  • Strong project and program management skills, with experience delivering multiple, complex, multi-stakeholder projects in parallel in time and budget.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present structural engineering concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of:
  • Structural analysis, and construction methods including seismic, wind, and load calculations for various building types and ability to assess structural integrity, troubleshoot design challenges and propose engineering solutions.
  • Structural Materials (concrete material properties, construction and performance)
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, including architects, MEPF engineers, and sustainability consultants.
  • A proactive, research-driven, and innovative mindset.
  • Strong technical proficiency in structural analysis and digital tools.
