Job Description

Position Title: Data Analyst (App developer)
Contract: 6 months, 
possibility of extension
Location/Site: Remote (Eastern time zone preferred)

Job Overview:
As a Data Analyst focused on supporting the centralized Omics Data Server at AbbVie’s Genomics Research Center, you will play a crucial role in facilitating data loading, curation, and harmonization. You will collaborate closely with researchers to understand their data needs and support them in effectively leveraging the Omics Data Server. Your efforts will drive quick wins, enabling scientists to utilize curated data efficiently and advancing innovative research and development initiatives.

What are the top 3-5 skills, experience or education required for this position:
a. Advanced skills with R/Python
b. Interaction with databases (SQL)
c. Experience with API development
d. Experience with bioinformatics datasets (like BulkRNAseq, Proteomics, scRNAseq, CRISPR)
e. Code management and documentation, usage of github

Key Responsibilities:
• Database Interaction: Leverage PostgreSQL databases to build functionality to load, manage and query large genomic datasets
• API Development: Design and implement APIs that enhance data accessibility and integration across various platforms and research tools.
• Data Processing Automation: Utilize Python and R to automate and optimize data processing workflows, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• ETL Process Management: Develop and execute ETL processes that align with organizational standards, ensuring seamless integration of high-value datasets.
• Enabling Team Success: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure applications are aligned with common data model standards and facilitate effective data management and querying.
• Documentation and Collaboration: Maintain comprehensive documentation of development processes and version control to support collaboration and reproducibility.
• Understanding User Requirements: Engage with bioinformatics research scientists to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into technical specifications and application features.

Required qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience with databases, including proficiency in SQL for writing complex queries.
• Experience in API development and data integration techniques.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL or similar databases, with the ability to write complex queries.
• Expertise in Python and R for automation and data manipulation.
• Familiarity with bioinformatics data and bioinformatics data standards.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, essential for partnering with diverse research teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in app development and user interface design (preferred: RShiny).
• Experience with AWS
