Job Description

Location: Aibonito, PR
Pay Rate: $15,68 / Hourly

General Summary:
Examine, diagnose, and correct operational problems related to manufacturing equipment in both the manufacturing and plant building areas.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Install and integrate new machines or plant facility equipment and ensure their proper operation in compliance with established quality and manufacturing procedures. Upgrade existing equipment as needed.
  • Ensure proper equipment operation according to quality and manufacturing procedures.
  • Repair and maintain manufacturing equipment using sophisticated testing tools, specialized manuals, and plant SOPs.
  • Support production lines to keep machines and manufacturing equipment in excellent working condition.
  • Disassemble equipment or machinery, disconnect controls, and remove defective parts for repair or replacement. Perform preventive maintenance according to established standards.
  • Work in the machine shop to fabricate parts.
  • Carry out validation processes on new and existing machines.
  • Manually (e.g., checker chart) and/or electronically (e.g., POMs) record the required information during shift changes, in compliance with applicable procedures and specifications. This includes, but is not limited to, process parameters, lots, production amounts, etc.
  • Prepare documentation for all changes made to the equipment, including mechanical and electrical blueprints.
  • Participate in special projects as required by the supervisor.
  • Conduct EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) inspections to identify and correct hazards and environmental aspects. Follow EHS procedures and analyze incidents (including near misses) to identify causes and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Mechanics, Electronics, or Tool & Die Making. 0 to 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be available to work irregular hours and accept assignments in other plants or departments as needed.
  • Must be able to travel if required. May be exposed to noise and high temperatures in the work area. Must comply with plant safety rules and good manufacturing practices.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, precision tools, machine shop equipment, and mechanical systems required.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings is essential.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, meet project deadlines, be self-motivated, and possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to read and understand English at a good comprehension level.
Physical demands:
  • Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and more than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. These requirements exceed those for Light Work.
