Job Description:
  • The Controls Engineer is responsible for the development and support of new and existing control systems used in the company’s various coating processes.
  • The Engineer executes moderately complex engineering projects; performs project engineering support and project work from design to implementation in accordance with company policies.
 Scope:
  • Candidate has a sound Electrical/Electronic Engineering skill set and maintains a thorough knowledge of new developments and technology.
 Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop electrical, design, and schematic drawings in AutoCAD and SW Electrical.
  • Work closely with the digitalization team to ensure the controls infrastructure aligns with data collection and monitoring efforts.
  • Interpret mechanical design drawings for Electrical requirements.
  • Research supplier products for assembly components.
  • Develop an electrical bill of materials.
  • Power up electrical systems and configure hardware per application specifications.
  • Check the quality of assemblers' and technicians' work and respond to enquiries during assembly.
  • Work with the engineering team to provide input on budget preparation and timeline.
  • Design and develop PLC and HMI applications based on given requirements and specifications.
  • Understand customer requirements for HMI/communication interface, networking, and create specifications based on these requirements.
  • Review, repair, and redesign legacy code.
  • Troubleshoot issues with existing company-installed equipment.
  • Write user manuals to communicate the functionality of developed programs.
  • Technical writing, including a software management plan, and a user/operating manual with a troubleshooting guide and spare parts list.
  • Participate in requirement reviews and work with the engineering team to ensure proper implementation of features.
  • Provide control system support during the commissioning and startup phases of projects.
  • This position reports to the Sr. Engineering Manager.
Required Skills:
  • 1 - 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in a CAD package is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office required.
  • A strong understanding of PLC and HMI programming is a requirement.
Preferred Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Allen Bradley, Visual Basic, VB.net, and Python are a plus.
  • Fundamental understanding of Robotics, ABB a plus.
