Job Title: Systems Testing / QA Specialist – Intermediate

Location: Toronto, Ontario
Type: 8-Month Contract (Possible Extension)
Work Mode: Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite, 2 Days Remote

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of QA experience with complex business systems.
  • Proficiency in test management tools (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla, Microfocus Suite).
  • Strong understanding of workflow and rule-based business processes.
  • Proven experience coordinating QA efforts across multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and analytical thinking.

 

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Systems Testing / QA Specialist (Intermediate Level) to support large, complex, and business-critical systems. This role involves developing and executing test strategies, plans, and test cases, as well as supporting integration and user acceptance testing efforts. The consultant will work closely with QA leads, project teams, and technical stakeholders in both GUI and non-GUI environments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop test plans, test scripts, and test cases.
  • Execute system integration, functional, non-functional, load/performance, and user acceptance tests.
  • Provide advice on testing strategy, tools, and resource planning.
  • Coordinate QA activities across multiple teams and conflicting priorities.
  • Participate in analysis, design, development, and ongoing support of systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.
  • Document and track defects and test results using tools such as Jira or Bugzilla.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

QA Skills (45%)
  • 2-5 years in testing and data reconciliation of complex systems.
  • Experience in test planning and test case creation.
  • Conducting data analysis, cleansing, and conversion.
  • Accessibility testing aligned with AODA compliance.
  • Strong coordination and time management in fast-paced environments.
Technical Skills (35%)
  • Familiarity with workflow, portfolio management, and rule-driven solutions.
  • Web-based 3-tier architecture knowledge.
  • Proficiency in tools like Jira, Bugzilla, Microfocus Product Suite.
  • Oracle database tools for data querying and handling.
  • Skilled in Visio, MS Office Suite, MS Project, Outlook.
  • Experience with IBM J-Rules Engine and COTS testing.
  • Familiarity with accessibility tools: WAVES, JAWS, NVDA, Compliance Sheriff.
General Skills (15%)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across business and technology teams effectively.
Public Sector Experience (5%)
  • Prior experience working with or as a vendor to government ministries or agencies is a plus.
