Job Description: Summary: The main function of a software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. The role will involve testing wearable features, identifying issues, self-driven and noting down issues, doing first level triaging and fixing wearable issues, find workaround to unblock lab, and work with other engineers on the team to track down complex fixes. In addition to supporting the lab, the role also has required to develop lab support related features on android for wearable devices.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Review and approve the modification of existing databases and database management systems.
  • Instruct staff to write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system.
  • Direct database development and approve project scope and limitations.
  • Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
  • Approve, schedule, plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems.
  • Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information.
Skills:
  • 50% of the time this role will be in the lab and will be technical lab support, debugging and triaging devices for the lab. Other 50% will be to developing new features on new wearable device so will need android experience
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
  • Strong mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
  • Strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc.
 
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.
 
Story Behind the Need – Business Group & Key Projects:
Key Projects/Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Candidate Requirements
Must-Have Skills
  1. Requires 7+ years as a software engineer. Requires 3+ years android experience. Requires 1+ year experience on project management as will be managing their own projects
  2. Strong communication as they will be working on cross functional projects and managing their own projects
  3. AOSP (Android Open Source Project) Experience
 
Nice-to-have Skills
  1. C++ Experience
  2. Former Meta
 
Years of Experience:

Degrees/Certifications Required:

Interview Process
How many rounds of interviews? 2 rounds, one with CWAM and one with lab partner
Types of Interviews: Technical/programming and behavioral
Interview Duration: 45 minutes for technical round and 30 minutes for second
