About the role:
- As a nurse at an organization Manufacturing Site, this role is responsible for providing comprehensive health services to employees within a manufacturing setting. This includes treating injuries and illnesses, conducting health assessments, promoting health and safety practices, and complying with occupational health regulations.
- This role collaborates with management to develop health policies and programs that enhance workplace safety and employee well-being.
- The site nurse will have knowledge of EHS compliance programs to ensure compliance with regulations governing safety and health for workers and the work environment including but not limited to Workers Compensation, OSHA, Ergonomics and Hearing protection.

These responsibilities include some of the following:
- Nurses in the field of occupational health identify and control common workplace hazards to ensure employees stay healthy and safe.
Health Assessment and Care
- Conduct pre-employment and periodic health assessments, as part of health surveillance programs.
- Provide first aid and emergency care for work related injuries and illnesses.
- Administer medications as prescribed by a physician.
- Monitor and follow up on employee health conditions and recovery process.
- Develop and implement health and wellness program.
- Provide health education designed to prevent injury and illness by promoting effective management of occupational and non-occupational health matters.
- Promote company resources and employee benefits that support employee health and wellbeing.
- Conduct health education sessions and training topics such as disease prevention, stress management, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, including use of Cority Electronic Medical Record system.
- Conduct workplace hazard assessments and participate in safety inspections.
- Identify employees with actual or potential occupational exposures, including chemical, biological, and physical hazards, and determine the need for baseline and annual medical surveillance.
- Support the site Ergonomics Improvement Team with assistance from the EHS-Industrial Hygiene Specialist.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims and coordinate return to work programs.
- Case-manage employees who are on medical restrictions, following the Employee request for Accommodation procedure, with the goal of keeping employee safe and productive at work. This involves collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health regulations and standards.
- Maintain qualified vendors, if needed, to provide health services.
- Personally develop by obtaining the required continuing education credits to maintain license and relevant certifications.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Manage the site First Responders team, including facilitating annual refresher training and certifications
- Participate in emergency drills and ensure readiness of medical equipment and supplies.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to the development of health and safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with employees, providing support and addressing health inquiries.
- Provide recommendations to Site Leadership Team on safety, health and wellness matters.
Basic Qualifications:
Client is looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license.
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN) or relevant experience is a plus.
- Nursing experience in an industrial setting is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus
- Previous experience in occupational health, emergency care, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- Strong clinical and assessment skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in using medical and office software.
- Good relationship building and networking, to engage effectively with site personnel, senior management, EHS and Regional leads.
- Ability to conduct training sessions in a classroom or production floor environment
- Familiarization and practical experience with Quality initiatives including but not limited to: executing validation protocols, deviation reports, root cause analysis, and change control.
- Continuous improvement background with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma/OE Tools and Techniques (OE Green Belt Certification preferred)
