Job Description

Title: Energy Program Manager V
Location: US - Remote

Duration: 8 months

Role Overview:
The Energy Manager (Clean Energy Standards) will focus on refining a Scope 2 GHG accounting framework for client’s implementation that more accurately reflects the true emissions impact of clean energy projects and drives meaningful carbon reductions. This role will collaborate with client’s Energy & Net Zero teams to advance our clean energy and net zero strategy by addressing key standards and external partnerships.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage and shape the GHGP Scope 2 update process through public and non-public pathways.
  • Influence campaign with NGOs, corporates, and trade engagements to enable and activate their engagement with GHGP.
  • Messaging and publications to advance public education and enable engagement with GHGP.
  • Support Emissions First strategy and workstreams.
  • Lead response to the GHGP public comment period.
  • Lay foundation for Scope 2 Impact Metric / Consequential metric to be valued by standard bodies.
  • Partner with Net Zero team on clean energy guidance included in various standard revisions (SBTi, ISO Net Zero, AIM, etc).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sustainability, corporate responsibility, or a technically related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in fields related to clean energy, environmental standards, carbon markets, and/or sustainability.
  • Expertise in clean energy markets, project-based accounting, GHG accounting, and voluntary corporate climate claims.
  • Experience in coordinating/leadership roles in building sustainability partnerships and coalitions with NGOs and corporations.
  • Proven track record of influencing, creating, and driving strategic impact, engagement, and communication.
  • Flexible, entrepreneurial spirit with experience influencing across an organization with indirect authority.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating with internal interdisciplinary teams as well as external stakeholders.
  • A self-starter with a proven ability to diplomatically resolve issues through understanding conflicting inputs, achieving alignment, and proposing go-forward solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with GHG standard and guidance development.
  • Strong familiarity with existing and emerging corporate climate disclosure regulations.
  • Experience setting and reporting on corporate GHG reduction targets and commitments (e.g., Net zero, SBTi).
