Job Description:

Purpose and Scope:The Patient Centricity (PATC) Medical Intelligence and Patient Insights (MIPI) Fellow will report to the Head of MIPI, PATC and will be assigned to work with a more senior MIPI team member on the planning and execution of MIPI projects/initiatives, with a specific emphasis on Competitive Intelligence. This function focuses on generating information and insight into the competitive landscape for disease areas of interest. The Fellow will be responsible for executing projects and engaging with internal and external stakeholders as relevant. The Fellow will leverage technical, medical, and scientific expertise gained from patient-centric approaches and pharmaceutical industry training/experience to meet objectives. Toward that end, the role requires some knowledge of multiple areas of patient care and healthcare access, with a strong emphasis on researching and analyzing disease areas and competitive products. This role supports MIPI analyses for internal client's customers, including Research, Early Development, and more. The Fellow will work closely with a mentor who leads the Competitive and Strategic Insights function.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in competitive landscape and strategic insights research for MIPI analyses including but not limited to:
  • Identification of competitive products in current and emerging (clinical / pre-clinical development) Standard of Care.
  • Identification and assessment of competitive programs with similar characteristics (mechanism of action, route of administration, etc.) to internal Clients programs.
  • Work with other internal partners to support the MIPI team with contributions in the area of health economics, epidemiology, clinical and regulatory areas.
  • Support the execution of MIPI projects across therapeutic areas aligned with Client's strategic priorities.
  • Help supervise PharmD students interning in the MIPI team and contribute to mentoring and development of trainees.
Quantitative Dimensions: This role has direct impact on client's ability to meet goals related to delivering value to patients and caregivers and informing pipeline and portfolio decisions. The Fellow will interface with a wide range of departments including research teams, New Product Planning (NPP), New Product Assessment (NPA), Analytics, Primary Focus Leads, Medical and Early Development, and Portfolio Strategy. The role requires managing multiple project goals and timelines with minimal supervision from manager and applying scientific/medical knowledge in a cross-functional team environment.
Candidate must be able to work within the construct of a global team and possess excellent teaming skills.


Organizational Context:
  • Position reports to the Head of Medical Intelligence & Patient Insights (MIPI) within the Patient Centricity Division.
  • Fellow will be working closely with a mentor who leads the Competitive and Strategic Insights function.
  • Entry level position into the Patient Centricity and/or Medical Affairs.

Required Qualifications:
  • PharmD, PhD in a scientific discipline, or other advanced scientific degree. MBA is a plus.
  • Typically, 0-1 years of previous industry or healthcare experience.
  • Ability to apply scientific and/or business knowledge to assigned projects.
  • Understanding of compliance standards relevant to the role.
  • Strong writing and verbal presentation skills.
  • Ability to understand healthcare environment and apply concepts to perform job function
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools: PowerPoint, Excel.
    Preferred
  • Demonstrate interest or prior experience in competitive intelligence within the life sciences sector.
  • Completion of a rotation/internship within a pharmaceutical or biotech company as part of an academic program.
