Title: Mechanical Engineer V
Location: Redmond,WA
Duration: 12 Months
Summary:
This Project is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
As a First Line Support - Manufacturing Engineer at Project, you will be directly responsible for building, testing, qualifying and producing next generation spacecraft. You will utilize innovative solutions and cutting-edge technology to solve difficult manufacturing and engineering problems on a daily basis, at both a systems and specialized level. You will be the first line of support for all manner of technical challenges to the production team, using your expertise to rapidly respond to, triage, and solve product issues which slow down factory throughput. You’ll convert the first line troubleshooting into structural improvement projects to both improve the green-to-green recovery time for when line disturbances occur, as well as eliminate the generation of disturbances entirely through collaboration with other technical functions.
Note: This position works a 4x10 schedule (four days worked per week, 10 hours worked per day) and is assigned to the back-half-days production schedule working Wednesday through Saturday, 6am to 4:30pm.
Key job responsibilities
• Support operations teams directly by being the first technical point of contact for production disturbances, unblocking production issues & finding structural solutions to prevent their recurrence
• Process defective material for engineering evaluation to determine path forward
• Modify shop orders to enable continuous production execution
• Develop & Improve troubleshooting documentation for production test hardware
Normal day
• 75% of time will be spent on-the production floor working with technician teams to solve all types of technical blockers, from test report reviews, defect material triage, ERP blockers, etc.
• 25% of time will be spent performing independent development work such as performing data analysis on disturbances, improving troubleshoot documentation, etc.
Required Skills:
• Familiarity with Low Rate Manufacturing Environments & New Product Introduction
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices & principles
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis Techniques such as Fishbone, Fault Tree, DMAIC, etc.
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Experience with Electrical System Design & Metrology
• Experience with Mechanical Design and Failure Analysis
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP software
• Experience with NX Unigraphics of similar CAD software
• Experience with Aerospace &/or Optical Manufacturing
• Experience with Python Programming Language
• Experience with Fiber Optic Systems
• Experience with Statistical Analysis Software such as Minitab
