Job Description

Job Title: DevOps Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: 8 months possibility of extension

Role Overview

The DevOps Engineer will work on public websites dedicated to providing a tailored experience for Northern Trust clients. The primary responsibilities include implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines, specifically using GitHub Actions, and supporting solutions for the public websites. This role will require close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient workflows and continuous integration/deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • CI/CD Pipeline Implementation:
    Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for public websites using GitHub Actions.
  • Collaboration:
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve software delivery processes and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Content Management Systems (CMS):
    Work with Content Management Systems to ensure the efficient deployment and maintenance of public-facing websites.
  • Technologies & Frameworks:
    Use technologies such as Java, Spring, Node.js, and TypeScript to build and support systems.
  • Enterprise Docker Images:
    Develop and maintain enterprise Docker images to ensure streamlined and scalable deployments.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience with GitHub Actions:
    Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience with GitHub Actions, explaining how they’ve used it in past projects to improve development workflows.
  • DevOps Philosophy:
    A strong understanding of DevOps principles and how they apply to modern software development and deployment.
  • System Design & Architecture:
    7+ years of experience in system architectural design and implementation, particularly in enterprise-level environments.
  • Programming Skills:
    Proficiency in Java, Spring, Node.js, and TypeScript.
  • Agile Methodologies:
    Strong understanding and experience working with Agile methodologies.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Candidates should provide examples of how they’ve identified opportunities for improvement and implemented solutions to enhance development processes.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    Ability to actively communicate concerns and provide updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
