Job Description

Location: Jayuya, PR
Pay Rate: $13.00 /Hourly

Summary:
Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines, and other equipment. Operates manufacturing equipment for troubleshooting, repairs, and for functional test purposes. Performs all duties with strict observance to cGMP's, cSOP's, cGDP's, and other internal and external regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must check with the Supervisor the daily schedule to provide the required support.
  • Performs and participates in manufacturing general repairs (mechanical, electrical, pneumatical) on production equipment.
  • Install and/or modify new or relocated equipment.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.
  • Fill out all necessary documentation to comply with Company specifications (SOP's).
  • Performs preventive maintenance work and reports according to established standards.
  • Responsible for equipment and tools to perform daily work.
  • Must keep the work area in the cleanest and most ordered conditions, following the 6S concepts.
  • Responsible for the requesting and replacement of parts, following up on requests in a timely manner for assigned equipment.
  • Capable of reading and understanding schematics or blueprints.
  • Capable of understanding basic programming (PLC, Drive Motors, etc.) (Windows, emails, computer in general).
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate the cause of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines forms and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements and causes of failure.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Replaces or repairs defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Perform all tasks in a manner that is consistent with safety training, procedures, and policies.
  • Provides technical support to all assigned areas.
  • Able to work under minimum supervision.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Teamwork oriented.
  • Able to work extra hours, Holidays (e.g. shutdowns, special projects).
  • Carries tools and equipment to and from storage and working areas.
  • Other related duties with the position may be assigned.
  • cGMPs Training, Safety Trainings, certificates, licenses, exams, and registrations that the immediate supervisor refers.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Electronics, Instrumentation (preferred), or Mechanics.
  • Minimum of 0 to 5 years of experience in related areas.
  • Computer literate.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with the immediate supervisor.
  • Ability to communicate, read, write, and understand English/Spanish languages.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematics.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (with the appropriate safety equipment provided by the Company).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Safety Equipment and/or Equipment:

  • The incumbent must use the proper equipment in any Baxter area to comply with Company policies and any internal or external regulation or policy (e.g. safety shoes, safety glasses, earplugs, safety gloves, chemical dress coat, apron, rubber boots, harness, face mask, safety belts, etc.).
  • While performing this job, the incumbent must use:
