The Role
- The Engineering Configuration Management team is responsible for ensuring product integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance though effective change control and configuration management mechanisms.
- The ideal candidate has extensive end-to-end product development experience and is driven to improve cost-effectiveness, quality, and efficiency across all lifecycle phases.
- As a Product/Project Manager you will play a critical role in shaping the infrastructure that supports our mission.
- You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, included engineering, operations, and program leadership to drive product development and manage product configuration data necessary for on orbit mission operations.
- Responsible for the coordination and completion of project/program.
- Oversees all aspects of projects/program.
- Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of project/program.
- Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of project/program.
- May require a bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of tasks.
- Leads and directs the work of others.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
Key job responsibilities
- Implement Configuration Data management policies, procedures, and standards.
- Supports preparation, development, coordination, scheduling, and change management activities of maintaining an integrated plan to meet program and/or project requirements in accordance with project management industry standards.
- Establish effective communication with major stakeholders.
- Lead and/or support change control meetings to ensure risks and change impacts are well understood and documented
- Identifies and provide reports on performance variances, project status, change information to project team.
- Reconcile the As-Designed, As-planned, and As-Built configurations and report discrepancy reasons.
- Identify and implement system and process improvements as required to increase efficiency and quality
- Project Manage one or more Product Lifecycle Management transformational projects
- Seek out and identify change management opportunities that increase program velocity and which affect multiple teams.
- Define/manage a program portfolio solving problems that target high business impact for the organization and product area.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
Daily Schedule:
- Product Dev/NPI/Block Change Strategy
- Change Management tool/mechanism Integrations (TC, MES, Asteria, Etc),
- E2E Change Management mechanisms including Supplier, Customer, In Service Change Management (i.e. Material Obsolescence, Post ship HW/SW modifications, traceability, config management)
