Support Engineer 
Duration: 11 Months
Location: Sunnyvale,CA

As a Support Engineer, you will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or more services, acting as a key resource within your team. You will be recognized as a support leader across the broader organization, frequently engaged in cross-team collaboration and large-scale planning initiatives.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead large, multi-team projects and resolve the most complex support issues.
  • Drive operational efficiency by defining SLAs, metrics, monitoring tools, and documentation.
  • Proactively prevent support issues by participating in design reviews and identifying potential risks.
  • Collaborate closely with development and QA teams to refine the change management lifecycle.
  • Conduct deep dives into automation issues, working with engineering teams to resolve fleet performance and availability challenges.
  • Develop automation tools to streamline daily system administration tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize Linux-based systems, utilizing AWS tools, service logs, and Linux performance monitoring tools.
  • Share insights with Tech Giant Client leadership to drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the team, making sound technical decisions with excellent judgment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong scripting and programming skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Ownership of production system software deployments and ongoing software upgrades for backend services.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, debug, evaluate, and resolve computer-identified alarms.
  • Experience in software deployments, migrations, and host management.
  • Passion for automation, developing tools to achieve a human-free operations environment.
  • Ability to optimize software while leveraging system architecture for maximum efficiency.
  • Background in Application Support and a drive to contribute to business growth.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of computer concepts, PC hardware/software troubleshooting, and workstation (desktop/laptop) hardware.
  • Experience supporting Windows XP/7 and Server OS in a managed desktop environment.
  • Familiarity with Macintosh OS X (10.4 and later) is desirable.
  • Basic working knowledge of Linux/UNIX systems (Red Hat preferred).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (Ethernet, TCP/IP, Windows Server networking).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer focus, problem-solving mindset, and proactive attitude.
  • Commitment to high standards, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of software development or 4+ years of technical support experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Unix and modern scripting languages.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining RAID (hardware & software).
  • Experience working with REST web services, XML, and JSON.
