Job Description

Job Title- Product Safety Manager I
Location- Seattle, WA, 98108
Duration- 12 months (possibility of extension)
Schedule- Monday - Friday (40 hrs a week) (Possible overtime 10hrs/week)

Job Summary:
  • The Additive Lab Safety Manager will be responsible for setting the groundwork for setting up additive labs globally for success in the area of safety.
  • They will be responsible for promulgating any safety processes and procedures to ensure the continuing safety and success of the additive manufacturing associates.
  • The Lab Safety Manager will also be responsible for teaching/training associates on safety topics as needed, interfacing with leadership, other client safety teams, client legal teams, and any other entities needed to discuss relevant topics.
  • They will also support and perform various safety analyses on processes and products to ensure the safety programs are working.
  • They will be responsible for various projects, mostly safety related, potentially some not safety related as deemed necessary by leadership.
 
Typical Task Breakdown:
  • Perform safety analysis activities on processes and products as needed.
  • Assist leadership in setting up of additive labs and additive manufacturing facilities as needed.
  • Develop a comprehensive safety protocol for all labs and manufacturing facilities.
  • Validate process programs are working by tracking relevant data and implementing improvements as needed
  • Interfaces with other teams as needed
  • Advises the leadership team on paths forward for various situations that may arise while building and using additive manufacturing
  • Other projects and duties as determined by leadership

Degrees / Certs and/or Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Environment, Health, and Safety discipline or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience working in labs and manufacturing environments with strong understanding of safety standards and requirements.
  • Must be familiar with applicable industrial safety regulations and guidelines, including OSHA 30, 500 and 510.
  • Experience conducting safety risk assessments and developing actions to mitigate risks.
  • Experience in using Industrial Hygiene principles to mitigate exposures to hazardous conditions.
 
Preferred qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience working labs and manufacturing environments with strong understanding of safety standards and requirements.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Authorized OSHA 501 trainer
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill with confidence to present to large executive audiences.
  • Experience with machinery safety
  • Knowledge OSHA 1910, 1926, ANSI B11 Experience
 
Preferred Qualifications / Nice to Have’s:
  • Experience with machinery safety
  • Strong lab safety experience
  • Experience in working in a manufacturing environment
  • The ability to interface with other teams and offer advice and council on safety issues
  • Experience in performing risk assessments and follow through with risk mitigation from the assessment findings
  • Industrial Hygiene Experience
